TANABE HOUSE

2000

Concept for the personal house of an art collector in Fukuoka, Japan.

Work on well-being in Japanese cultural environnement, where unexpressed and unaware desires are taken into account.
From the street, the house appears like a burrow, An earth tongue shelters an open internal plan out of sight from the street but windowed onto the garden’s side. As a culture symbol, a giant bookcase separates the served from the serving spaces.
Three high up bedrooms cross the garden-roof like huts. The ground surface is a garden highlighting territory instinct.
