Christofle Silver Time Collection

september 2013

In order to embody Christofle as a contemporary icon of the French art de vivre, Jean-Marie Massaud created 19 pieces that optimize the brilliance of silver plate. Some pieces offer a blend of materials, such as silver mixed with linen fiber or borosilicate glass. Artisan glassblowers in Italy created each piece in the Silver Time collection by hand.
With Silver Time, the Christofle table now offers a breadbasket, stackable bowls, plates and trays; a filter teapot, a large tureen for hot or cold soups, a large tea fountain and a series of bowls in glass and silver plate engraved with the house insignia – pieces that are all as aesthetic as they are functional, and anchor Christofle in the present day. This collection also recalls Jean-Marie Massaud’s preference for design that conveys softness and lightness. There’s a savvy play on contrast in the curved shapes of the teapot and creamer and the silver-plated strip on their lids. A minimalist yet powerful detail, it confers on this brunch set timeless beauty and elegance.
