Biography
Jean-Marie Massaud
Graduated from the ENSCI in 1990, Jean-Marie Massaud has run a quest for synthesis, reduction and lightness since his first intuitions. He has been working all kind of design fields, from furniture to industrial product and equipment. In 2000, he founds Studio Massaud and expands his expertise to architecture and brand development. He collaborates with various brands such as B&B Italia, Axor Hansgrohe, Lancôme or Renault. Denying trend and fashion, Jean Marie prefers questioning the existing, working out on progress and eventually proposing answers to contemporary stakes. It is this symbiosis between Man, his creations and his natural environment, that Jean Marie Massaud strives to reach, as a catalyst to innovation, as an economic model and as a life project. 1966 Birth in Toulouse 1990 Graduates from the ENSCI (« Les Ateliers) 1990-1991 Works in Hong Kong on mass-production design 1991 Submarine project with Yamaha Offshore 1992-96 Collaborates then partners of Marc Berthier 1995 Carte blanche VIA 1996 Founds his own design studio 1999 First monographic exhibition "Think Horizontal"- Massaud Musée des Arts Déco 2000 Némo (Cacharel), his first perfume bottle Founds the Studio Massaud, his architecture studio together with Daniel Pouzet 2001 Begins his collaboration with Cappellini 2003 Achieves the architectural identity of Lancôme 2005 Monographic Exhibition "Human Nature - Massaud", Time&Style at the Existance Gallery in Tokyo Publication of the monographic book Human Nature – Massaud Starts the Manned Cloud project (flying hotel) with the ONERA 2006 Begins his collaboration with B&B Italia 2007 Monographic exhibition at the VIA gallery in Paris Publication of the monographic book "Jean-Marie Massaud", Daab « Designer of the year 2007 », Salon du Meuble 2009 « Designer of the year 2009 », M&O Now!
